Journal ArticleDOI
Arabidopsis basic leucine zipper transcription factors involved in an abscisic acid-dependent signal transduction pathway under drought and high-salinity conditions.
Yuichi Uno,Takashi Furihata,Hiroshi Abe,Riichiro Yoshida,Kazuo Shinozaki,Kazuko Yamaguchi-Shinozaki +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that both AREB1 and AREB2 function as transcriptional activators in the ABA-inducible expression of rd29B, and further that A BA-dependent posttranscriptional activation of AREB 1 and AREb2, probably by phosphorylation, is necessary for their maximum activation by ABA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abscisic acid-dependent multisite phosphorylation regulates the activity of a transcription activator AREB1
Takashi Furihata,Kyonoshin Maruyama,Yasunari Fujita,Taishi Umezawa,Riichiro Yoshida,Kazuo Shinozaki,Kazuko Yamaguchi-Shinozaki +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the ABA-dependent multisite phosphorylation of AREB1 regulates its own activation in plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction between two cis-acting elements, ABRE and DRE, in ABA-dependent expression of Arabidopsis rd29A gene in response to dehydration and high-salinity stresses
Yoshihiro Narusaka,Kazuo Nakashima,Zabta Khan Shinwari,Yoh Sakuma,Takashi Furihata,Hiroshi Abe,Mari Narusaka,Kazuo Shinozaki,Kazuko Yamaguchi-Shinozaki +8 more
TL;DR: DRE and ABRE are interdependent in the ABA-responsive expression of the rd29A gene in response to ABA in Arabidopsis, and transactivation experiments showed that DREBs and AREBs cumulatively transactivate the expression of a GUS reporter gene fused to the 120 bp promoter region of rd 29A.
