Journal ArticleDOI

A simple preparation of 17(R)-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic and eicosapentaenoic acids from the eicosanoylphloroglucinols, components of the brown alga, Zonaria diesingiana

TL;DR: In this paper, the conformation of methyl ester of 17(R)-hydroxy acid in a solution was studied by using 2NMA, a chiral anisotropic reagent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Unusual transannular cyclization products of sarcophytoxide, a 14-membered marine cembranoid: anomalous stereochemistry of epoxide-ketone rearrangement.

TL;DR: The modified Mosher's method and X-ray analysis performed on the aromatic ketone revealed that it is a 4:1 mixture of 8(R)- and 8(S)-enantiomers, and suggested that the precursor ketone has 8( R)-configuration, which is contradictory to that expected from the ordinary epoxide-ketone rearrangement.
Journal ArticleDOI

Crenulacetal C, a Marine Diterpene, and Its Synthetic Mimics Inhibiting Polydora websterii, a Harmful Lugworm Damaging Pearl Cultivation

TL;DR: In this paper, a marine diterpene, crenulacetal C, isolated from the brown alga Dictyota dichotoma, was used to inhibit Polydora websterii, a harmful lugworm that has serious adverse effects on pearl oyster cultivation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structures of the radical (DPPH) oxidation products of dihydrocapsaicin

TL;DR: Dihydrocapsaicin was oxidized with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), a free radical, and the products were analyzed by spectroscopic means as mentioned in this paper.
