The design, simulation, realization, and measurement of an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna on a polymeric substrate have been realized. The UWB antenna was prepared using conventional technology, such as copper etching; inkjet printing, which is regarded as a modern and progressive nano-technology; and polymer thick-film technology in the context of screen-printing technology. The thick-film technology-based UWB antenna has a bandwidth of 3.8 GHz, with a central frequency of 9 GHz, and a frequency range of 6.6 to 10.4 GHz. In addition to a comparison of the technologies described, the results show that the mesh of the screens has a significant impact on the quality of the UWB antenna when utilizing polymeric screen-printing pastes. Last but not least, the eco-friendly combination of polyimide substrate and graphene-based screen-printing paste is thoroughly detailed. From 5 to 9.42 GHz, the graphene-based UWB antenna achieved a bandwidth of 4.42 GHz. The designed and realized UWB antenna well exceeds the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) standards for UWB antenna definition. The modification of the energy surface of the polyimide substrate by plasma treatment is also explained in this paper, in addition to the many types of screen-printing pastes and technologies. According to the findings, plasma treatment improved the bandwidth of UWB antennas to 5.45 GHz, and the combination of plasma treatment with graphene provides a suitable replacement for traditional etching technologies. The characteristics of graphene-based pastes can also be altered by plasma treatment in terms of their usability on flexible substrates.

Influence of Various Technologies on the Quality of Ultra-Wideband Antenna on a Polymeric Substrate

This paper deals with the realization of the ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna by applying the graphene-based screen-printing paste onto the polyimide substrate Kapton HN 200. The results show the suitability of use the graphene as a conductive material in high-frequency area, especially in the case of UWB antennas. The realized antenna several times exceeds the requirements of the FCC to the UWB antennas definition. Applying of graphene onto the polymeric substrate offers a promising solution for the ecological solution while the electrical properties of the UWB antenna are maintained. In addition, the long-term stability of the graphene-based UWB antenna have been proved by the accelerated aging tests. The paper also investigates the influence of the plasma treatment on the long-term stability of the UWB antenna.

Increased use of ultra-wideband (UWB) in biomedical applications based on wireless body area networks (WBAN) opens a variety of options in the field of biomedical research. WBAN may aid in the continuous health monitoring of patients while they go about their everyday lives. Many studies and researchers were conducted several experimentations in the same field for the performance improvement. This study covered the hybridization of UWB technology, as well as on-body, off-body, and human-body ultra-wideband communication (HB-UWB). In this paper, the parameters considered are throughput, energy consumption, energy efficiency, energy used, network survival and delay. An improved model for design and assessment of power-saving UWB-WBAN was developed in this paper. A novel protocol model was introduced in this paper, namely low-power traffic-aware emergency based narrowband protocol (LTE-NBP) to overcome the major drawbacks of emergency, critical data transmission, reliability and the power issues in UWB-WBAN. It’s the emergency-based low-power traffic-aware narrowband protocol. It is based on the dual-band physical layer technology. The suggested protocol considered an aware traffic model and an emergency medium access control (MAC) protocol. The proposed model’s performance was evaluated and compared with the related algorithms on different performance parameters. The improved model is found to be efficient in throughput, energy efficiency, energy consumption, and delay.

LTE-NBP with holistic UWB-WBAN approach for the energy efficient biomedical application

The high demand use of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) in wireless body area network (WBAN) based medical applications opens a way for many types of research in the current decade. The continuous health monitoring of the patients during normal daily activities is the primary concentration of the WBAN system. Many studies and analyses are taken into and performance is evaluated. The major sections which are discussed in this paper are UWB technologies, on-off body communication; WBAN ideas are discussed to overcome several research drawbacks.
