TL;DR: This work successfully knocked out both copies of the gene encoding isocitrate dehydrogenase (ICD), aiming to increase the availability of cis-aconitate, and demonstrates the great potential of engineering P. kudriavzevii as an industrial chassis for the production of organic acid.
