Journal ArticleDOI
cBN-Ti3SiC2 composites
TL;DR: In this paper, an X-ray absorption study was used to determine the bonding characteristics of the cBN-Ti3SiC2 samples. And the mechanical investigations of the BN-SiC4, TiC and SiC were performed using a hardness test and an ultrasonic method basing on the measurement of the velocity of ultrasonic waves transition through the samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-ray diffraction studies of oxidized high-palladium alloys
William A. Brantley,Zhuo Cai,Efstratios Papazoglou,John C. Mitchell,Susan J. Kerber,G. P. Mann,Tery L. Barr +6 more
TL;DR: The principal phase in the oxide layers on both Pd-Ga alloys that had been polished and etched was ln2O3, which exhibited extreme preferred orientation, which may provide guidance in the development of new high-palladium alloys with improved metal-ceramic bonding.
Journal ArticleDOI
XPS valence band studies of the bonding chemistry of germanium oxides and related systems
TL;DR: In this paper, a sputter deposited material with [O/Ge]≈2.0 is shown to be primarily GeO2 and the covalency/ionicity of the latter is compared to other Group IVA oxides.
Journal ArticleDOI
ESCA Studies of Framework Silicates with the Sodalite Structure: 1. Comparison of Purely Siliceous Sodalite and Aluminosilicate Sodalite
TL;DR: In this paper, the first detailed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ESCA) study of materials with the sodalite structure was performed and the results showed that the purely siliceous sodalites gave a unique set of binding energies and valence band patterns similar to those for silica.
