TL;DR: The fragment distributions resulting from Au+Au collisions at an incident energy of {ital E}/{ital A}=600 MeV and the mass and the excitation energy of the decaying prefragments were determined.

TL;DR: In this article, the ALADIN forward-spectrometer at SIS was extended with an array of 84 SiCsI(Tl) telescopes and the solid-angle coverage of the setup was extended to 16°.

Zude,B. Zwieglinski +47 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the Z-bound universality of spectator fragmentation with the ALADIN forward-spectrometer at SIS and found that the universal properties should persist up to much higher bombarding energies than explored in this work and that they are consistent with universal features exhibited by the intranuclear cascade and statistical multifragmentation models.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present design studies, results of test measurements, and Monte Carlo simulations which served as a basis for the realization of a large area neutron detector (LAND), which has a front area of 2m×2m and a depth of 1 m, and features a multilayer structure of passive converter and active scintillator material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Onset of nuclear vaporization in 197Au+197Au collisions.

TL;DR: Molecular dynamics calculations follow some trends but underpredict the observed fragment multiplicities, including the statistical decay of excited residues improves the agreement for peripheral collisions but worsens it for central collisions.
