Journal ArticleDOI
How the combination of Circular Economy and Industry 4.0 can contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
Thales Eduardo Tavares Dantas,E.D. de-Souza,I.R. Destro,Gabriela Hammes,Carlos Rodríguez,Sebastião Roberto Soares +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a systematic literature review to identify how the CE-I4.0 nexus, the combination of CE practices and Industry 4.0 technologies, could contribute to achieving the SDG.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nano and micro level circular economy indicators: Assisting decision-makers in circularity assessments
TL;DR: It is argued that the analyzed indicators mainly focus on material and resource recirculation and lack robustness to assess the sustainability performance of circular systems, so future research could analyze the integration of the investigated indicators with consolidated methodologies to overcome the barrier of combining circularity and sustainability performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measuring the environmental performance of a circular system: Emergy and LCA approach on a recycle polystyrene system.
Henrique Rogerio Antunes de Souza Junior,Henrique Rogerio Antunes de Souza Junior,Thales Eduardo Tavares Dantas,Guilherme Marcelo Zanghelini,Edivan Cherubini,Sebastião Roberto Soares +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a real case from a production system aligned with circular economy principles is analyzed, where the manufacturing of baseboards made of recycled Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), obtained from an extensive reverse logistics system composed of different recycling processes.
Book ChapterDOI
Environmental Impacts of the Brazilian Energy Mix—An LCA Approach to Past, Present, and Future Scenarios
Henrique Rogerio Antunes de Souza Junior,Henrique Rogerio Antunes de Souza Junior,Thales Eduardo Tavares Dantas,Edivan Cherubini,Guilherme Marcelo Zanghelini,Sebastião Roberto Soares +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the potential impacts of the configuration of the Brazilian energy mix in the years 2005, 2010, 2018, 2020 and 2030 were evaluated through Life Cycle Assessment, employing the OpenLCA 1.9.0 software, and based on the ecoinvent 3.5 database alongside literature data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combining Organizational Life Cycle Assessment with Company-Level Circularity Indicators: Case Study of a Vegan Zero-Waste Restaurant
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors performed a combined circularity and organizational life cycle assessment (OLCA) of a certified zero-waste vegan restaurant in Brazil, and the results showed that avoiding meat and dairy, procuring agro-ecological food options, and implementing practices such as reuse, recycling, and composting directly improve the overall circularity of the system.
