Early detection of acute renal failure by serum cystatin C
Stefan Herget-Rosenthal,Günter Marggraf,Johannes Hüsing,Frauke Göring,F Pietruck,Onno E. Janssen,Thomas Philipp,Andreas Kribben +7 more
TL;DR: Serum cystatin C is a useful detection marker of ARF, and may detect ARF one to two days earlier than creatinine, adding to its usefulness in critically ill patients with ARF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Augmentation index is associated with cardiovascular risk
Jens Nürnberger,Ayten Keflioglu-Scheiber,Anabelle Opazo Saez,René R. Wenzel,Thomas Philipp,Rafael F. Schäfers +5 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that augmentation index may be a useful marker of cardiovascular risk in patients with cardiovascular disease and in subjects with atherosclerotic disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of renal impairment on the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and safety of rivaroxaban, an oral, direct Factor Xa inhibitor.
Dagmar Kubitza,Michael Becka,Wolfgang Mueck,Atef Halabi,Haidar Maatouk,Norbert Klause,Volkmar Lufft,Dominic D. Wand,Thomas Philipp,Heike Bruck +9 more
TL;DR: Rivaroxaban clearance is decreased with increasing renal impairment, leading to increased plasma exposure and pharmacodynamic effects, as expected for a partially renally excreted drug.
Journal ArticleDOI
Posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy--results of 560 procedures in 520 patients.
Martin K. Walz,Piero F. Alesina,F. A. Wenger,Anastasios Deligiannis,Eduard Szuczik,Stephan Petersenn,Andreas Ommer,Harald Groeben,K. Peitgen,Onno E. Janssen,Thomas Philipp,Hartmut P. H. Neumann,Kurt Werner Schmid,Klaus Mann +13 more
TL;DR: The posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy is a safe and fast procedure and in experienced hands, this method represents the ideal approach in adrenal surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eculizumab for atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome.
Jens Nürnberger,Thomas Philipp,Oliver Witzke,Anabelle Opazo Saez,Udo Vester,Hideo A. Baba,Andreas Kribben,Lothar Bernd Zimmerhackl,Andreas R. Janecke,Mato Nagel,Michael Kirschfink +10 more
TL;DR: A case of atypical hemolytic–uremic syndrome is reported that was successfully treated with eculizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that blocks complement activity by cleavage of the complement protein C5, thereby preventing the generation of the inflammatory.
