Journal ArticleDOI
Heart failure hospitalization risk associated with use of two classes of oral antidiabetic medications: an observational, real-world analysis.
TL;DR: In this real-life analysis, the rate of hospitalizations for heart failure was significantly lower for patients initiating an SGLT2 compared with a DPP4 medication, specifically among older patients and those with diabetes complication.
Journal Article
Does CAC testing alter downstream treatment patterns for cardiovascular disease
Wiinie Chia-hsuan Chi,Gosia Sylwestrzak,John Barron,Barsam Kasravi,Thomas Power,Rita F. Redberg +5 more
TL;DR: Patients having CAC scans were not associated with fewer downstream ischemic events nor with reduced subsequent imaging and therapeutic interventions among non-high- risk patients, and results indicated inappropriate testing of high-risk patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical characteristics, patterns of lipid-lowering medication use, and health care resource utilization and costs among patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Thomas Power,Xuehua Ke,Zhenxiang Zhao,Nicole Bonine,Mark J. Cziraky,Michael Grabner,John Barron,Ralph Quimbo,Burkhard Vangerow,Peter P. Toth +9 more
TL;DR: Investigating real-world patient characteristics, medication use, and health care resource utilization (HCRU) and costs among patients with clinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) found patients have nonoptimal treatment for ASCVD and substantial HCRU and costs associated with residual risk.
