Evaluating the optimal timing of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

TL;DR: The design and protocol of a randomized controlled trial investigating the optimal timing of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis will have an important impact on current international guidelines for infection control strategies in the hospital and are of significant interest for patient safety and healthcare economics.
Journal ArticleDOI

A laparoscopic study investigating 3D vs 2D imaging systems using a pelvitrainer model with experts, non-experts, and students

TL;DR: Irrespective of experience level, 3D laparoscopy shows advantages in saving time, increasing accuracy and reducing mistakes, however, the more complex the task, the less significant the benefit of the 3D system and some people feel handicapped by the eyewear.
Journal ArticleDOI

Uterine pseudoaneurysm on the basis of deep infiltrating endometriosis during pregnancy-a case report.

TL;DR: In this article, a 34-year old pregnant symptomatic patient, where a large UPA was detected at 26 weeks, based on deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE), was successfully treated by selective arterial embolization after embolisation, the pain decreased but the woman still required intravenous analgesics during follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI

A crossover study on the advantage of an additional rotation function in a needle holder compared to a conventional needle holder in a pelvitrainer model

TL;DR: The aim of this study was to compare the RNH with the conventional needle holder (CNH) in a pelvitrainer model and found that more intuitive control of the rotation function may potentially offer an advantage in terms of speed and may be associated with a steeper learning curve.
Journal ArticleDOI

Maintenance Therapy with Aromatase Inhibitor in epithelial Ovarian Cancer (MATAO): study protocol of a randomized double-blinded placebo-controlled multi-center phase III Trial

TL;DR: In this article , the authors proposed a randomized phase III trial aiming to identify patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) in the maintenance setting, who would benefit from the effectiveness of the generic agent letrozole, with little expected toxicity and thus beneficial impact on overall quality of life (QoL).
