Unsupervised representation learning of spontaneous MEG data with nonlinear ICA
TL;DR: In this paper , a method based on the nonlinear independent component analysis (ICA) was developed to learn representations from resting-state magnetoencephalography (MEG) data.

Musical skills can be decoded from magnetic resonance images
Tuomas Puoliväli,Tuomo Sipola,Anja Thiede,Anja Thiede,Marina Kliuchko,Brigitte Bogert,Petri Toiviainen,Asoke K. Nandi,Asoke K. Nandi,Lauri Parkkonen,Elvira Brattico,Elvira Brattico,Elvira Brattico,Tapani Ristaniemi,Tiina Parviainen +14 more
TL;DR: It is shown that it is possible to predict whether a person is a musician or a non-musician based on the thickness of the cerebral cortex measured at 148 brain regions en-compassing the whole cortex, which implies that decoding-based analyses of structural properties of the brain can reveal novel aspects of musical aptitude.
Journal ArticleDOI
Attentional modulation of interhemispheric (a)symmetry in children with developmental language disorder
Doris Hernández,Salme Kärkkäinen,Terhi Tulonen,Päivi Helenius,Riitta Salmelin,Tiina Parviainen +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explored whether children with DLD demonstrate atypical interhemispheric asymmetry during the auditory processing of speech and non-speech sounds and whether this interhemisheric balance is modulated by attention.
Posted ContentDOI
Meggie – easy-to-use graphical user interface for M/EEG analysis based on MNE-python
Erkka Heinilä,Tiina Parviainen +1 more
TL;DR: Meggie is an open source software for running MEG and EEG analysis with easy-to-use graphical user interface written in Python 3, runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, and uses the MNE-python library under the hood to do heavy lifting.
Journal ArticleDOI
