Correlates of Dependent Living3 Months after Ischemic Stroke

TL;DR: The findings emphasize the importance of the evaluation of cognitive functions in both observational and interventional clinical trials, as well as in treatment planning, rehabilitation and guidance of patients with ischemic stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI

Post-stroke delirium in relation to dementia and long-term mortality

TL;DR: This research aimed to investigate whether delirium is associated with increased risk of post‐stroke dementia and long‐term mortality once confounding is taken into account.
Journal ArticleDOI

CSF β‐endorphin and β‐lipotropin in Alzheimer's disease and multi‐infarct dementia

TL;DR: The mean concentration of β-endomhin was significantly lower than in controls and the mean β-lipotropin levels did not differ significantly in the two groups, suggesting the low CSF β- endorphin level may relate generally to dementia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Medial temporal lobe atrophy and memory deficits in elderly stroke patients.

TL;DR: The conclusion is that in aged stroke patients, MTA is associated with poor performance in specific cognitive domains, the most vulnerable domains are memory and visuospatial functions, whereas verbal and executive functions seem to be unrelated to MTA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Subcortical Vascular Dementia as a Specific Target for Clinical Trials

TL;DR: Preliminary results suggest that some beneficial effects can be detected only when the trial population is homogeneous on a clinical and pathogenic basis, and subcortical vascular dementia seems a particularly apt choice as a target for future clinical studies.
