Towards the preparation of transparent LuAG:Nd3+ ceramics

TL;DR: In this article, the densification behavior of LuAG:Nd (Lu 3− x Nd x Al 5 O 12 ) ceramics made by a combustion precursor was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

From metals to nitrides - Syntheses and reaction details of binary rare earth systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a combinatory approach of thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis was used to investigate the reaction of several rare earth (RE ) metals with gaseous hydrogen and the subsequent reaction of the resulting hydrides with nitrogen gas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Superstructure formation in SrBa8[BN2]6 and EuBa8[BN2]6.

TL;DR: Vibrational spectra of SrBa8[BN2]6 and EuBa8(2)6 confirm the discrete linear [BN2](3-) units and (11)B solid state MAS NMR spectra are compatible with single crystallographic sites for the boron atoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

An UV-C/B emitting Xe excimer discharge lamp comprising BaZrSi3O9 – A lamp performance and phosphor degradation analysis

TL;DR: In this article, a highly efficient UV-C emitting phosphor, viz. BaZrSi3O9, was investigated with respect to its application as a conversion layer in Xe excimer discharge lamps.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the energy transfer in (Y,Gd)Al3(BO3)4:Ln3+ (Ln = Tb3+, Dy3+)

TL;DR: In this article, a single-phase (Y,Gd)Al 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Ln 3+ (Ln −Ln−= −Tb 3+, Dy 3+ ) (YAB) samples were synthesized via solid state reactions and spectroscopic investigations were conducted in order to characterise possible energy transfer mechanisms between Gd 3+ and the activator ions, Tb 3 + /Dy 3+.
