Substrate Influence on Dendritic Flux Instability in YBCO Thin Films
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of substrate thermal conductivity on dendritic flux formation in thin superconducting YBa 2Cu 3 O 7−x films grown on yttrium-stabilized zirconia, SrTiO 3, MgO, and sapphire was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pinning-induced stress during activation of bulk HTSs as trapped-field magnets
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetically induced stresses in a circular superconducting bulk are calculated for two magnetization processes: (i) during removal of the applied field after field-cooling, and (ii) during a field pulse applied to a zero-field-cooled superconductor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of ball milling on the local magnetic flux distribution and microstructure of in situ Fe/MgB2 conductors
Carlos Laliena,Thomas Qureishy,Elena Martínez,Rafael Navarro,Pavlo Mikheenko,Tom H. Johansen,Tom H. Johansen,Pavol Kováč +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of precursor milling energy on the superconducting and microstructural homogeneity of Fe-sheathed MgB 2 monocore wires and tapes have been investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time-Resolved Imaging of Magnetoelastic Waves by the Cotton-Mouton Effect
TL;DR: In this paper, the in-plane component of magnetization, modulated by propagating spin waves, via the birefringence that arises in a transverse magnetic field, was shown to resolve the contribution from magnetoelastic coupling in an out-of-plane-magnetized film.
Journal ArticleDOI
Width-dependent upper threshold field for flux noise in MgB2 strips
EunMi Choi,Hyun-Sook Lee,Jae Yeap Lee,Sung-Ik Lee,A. A. F. Olsen,V. V. Yurchenko,D. V. Shantsev,Tom H. Johansen,Hyeong-Jin Kim,Moo-Hyun Cho +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured magnetization hysteresis curves and used magneto-optical imaging to visualize the flux distributions in superconducting MgB2 films in order to study dendritic flux avalanches.
