Antifungal activity of Paraguayan plants used in traditional medicine.
TL;DR: The antifungal activity of aqueous, dichloromethane and methanol extracts from 14 Paraguayan plants used in traditional medicine for the treatment of skin diseases was assayed in vitro by the agar disk diffusion method against 11 fungal strains comprising several filamentous fungi and yeasts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity of Baccharis trimera: identification of its active constituents.
TL;DR: Results indicate that B.trimera shows strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties which seem to be due, at least partly, to the inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatoprotective activity of polyphenolic compounds from Cynara scolymus against CCl4 toxicity in isolated rat hepatocytes.
TL;DR: The hepatoprotective activity against CCl4 toxicity in isolated rat hepatocytes of some polyphenolic compounds, such as cynarin, isochlorogenic Acid, chlorogenic acid, luteolin-7-glucoside, and two organic acids, caffeic and quinic, from Cynara scolymus, is tested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heterotheca inuloides: anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect
TL;DR: HI-2 reduced abdominal constrictions in mice following injection of acetic acid and inhibited inflammation induced by dextran and arachidonic acid, and showed related anti-inflammatory activity and the analgesic effect of HI-2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atorvastatin treatment induced peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha expression and decreased plasma nonesterified fatty acids and liver triglyceride in fructose-fed rats.
Núria Roglans,Elena Sanguino,Cristina Peris,Marta Alegret,Manuel Vázquez,Tomás Adzet,Cristina Díaz,Gonzalo Hernández,Juan C. Laguna,Rosa M. Sánchez +9 more
TL;DR: Results show for the first time that liver triglyceride increase in fructose-fed rats is linked to decreased expression of PPARalpha, which is prevented by atorvastatin treatment.
