Left ventricular wall motion abnormalities in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage: Neurogenic stunned myocardium☆

TL;DR: It is suggested that patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage and ST segment elevation may demonstrate transient corresponding regional wall motion abnormalities in the form of neurogenic stunned myocardium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human neural stem/progenitor cells, expanded in long‐term neurosphere culture, promote functional recovery after focal ischemia in Mongolian gerbils

TL;DR: Human NSPCs, even from long‐term culture, remarkably improved neurologic functions after focal ischemia in the Mongolian gerbil, and maintained their abilities to migrate around the infarction, differentiate into mature neurons, and form synapses with host neuronal circuits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood-brain barrier disruption and exacerbation of ischemic brain edema after restoration of blood flow in experimental focal cerebral ischemia.

TL;DR: The study indicated that the increase of extracellular osmotic pressure due to leakage of serum proteins via the disrupted BBB and of intracellular substances via the ischemically injured cell membrane into the extacellular space is the mechanism responsible for edema fluid accumulation in exacerbated ischemic brain edema.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental neurotoxicity of 5-fluorouracil and its derivatives is due to poisoning by the monofluorinated organic metabolites, monofluoroacetic acid and alpha-fluoro-beta-alanine.

TL;DR: It was concluded that the subacute and chronic neurotoxicity of FU and its derivatives in dogs and cats is due to intoxication with the monofluorinated organic metabolites, FA and FBAL, and that the direct action of FA andFBAL on myelin and the action of FBAL on energy metabolism or vessels of the mid brain were proposed as the main pathogenetic factor involved.
