Chemical Studies on Oriental Plant Drugs. XIV. Protopanaxadiol, a Genuine Sapogenin of Ginseng Saponins

TL;DR: It was proved that the genuine sapogenin of ginsenosides-Rb1, -Rb2, and -Rc, saponins of Ginseng roots, was represented by protopanaxadiol (IVa), and panaxadiola (I) was an artifact formed during the process of the acid hydrolysis of these saponin.
Book

Protamines: isolation, characterization, structure and function

TL;DR: The present chapter discusses the preparation of Nucleoprotamines and Homogeneous Molecular Species of Protamines, and some remarks are made on the methods of Preparation of Whole Protamines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical Studies on the Oriental Plant Drugs. XXVIII. Saponins and Sapogenins of Ginseng : Stereochemistry of the Sapogenin of Ginsenosides-Rb1, -Rb2 and -Rc

TL;DR: In this article, the prosapogenin (XI) was obtained by partial hydrolysis of the above mentioned three saponins, which was found to be 3-O-(2β-D-glucopyranosyl-β -D-GLG-γ-GGLG -20 (R)-protopanaxadiol.
