Journal ArticleDOI

Cytokinin Oxidase Regulates Rice Grain Production

TL;DR: It is shown that a QTL that increases grain productivity in rice, Gn1a, is a gene for cytokinin oxidase/dehydrogenase (OsCKX2), an enzyme that degrades the phytohormone cytokinIn.
Journal ArticleDOI

A High-Density Rice Genetic Linkage Map with 2275 Markers Using a Single F2 Population

TL;DR: A 2275-marker genetic map of rice (Oryza sativa L.) covering 1521.6 cM in the Kosambi function has been constructed using 186 F2 plants from a single cross between the japonica variety Nipponbare and the indica variety Kasalath, and permitted us to characterize meiotic recombinations in the whole genome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of Heading Date Quantitative Trait Locus Hd6 and Characterization of Its Epistatic Interactions With Hd2 in Rice Using Advanced Backcross Progeny

TL;DR: A backcrossed population derived from a cross between a japonica rice variety and an indica rice variety as the donor parent showed a long-range variation in days to heading and existence of an epistatic interaction between Hd2, which is one of the photoperiod sensitivity genes detected in a previous analysis, and Hd6.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fine mapping of quantitative trait loci Hd-1, Hd-2 and Hd-3, controlling heading date of rice, as single Mendelian factors

TL;DR: Results demonstrated that QTLs can be treated as Mendelian factors and were in good agreement with the regions estimated by QTL analysis of the initial F2 population, demonstrating the high reliability of QTL mapping using a high-density linkage map.
Journal ArticleDOI

Construction and evaluation of chromosome segment substitution lines carrying overlapping chromosome segments of indica rice cultivar 'Kasalath' in a genetic background of japonica elite cultivar 'Koshihikari'

TL;DR: The results clearly demonstrated that the use of CSSLs enabled to identify a larger number of QTLs than did a BC1F3 population derived from the same cross combination.
