Fission of 232Th, 238U and 235U induced by negative muons

TL;DR: The absolute yields of prompt and delayed fission induced by negative muons in 232 Th, 238 U and 235 U have been measured in this article, and it is suggested that prompt fission can be used for investigating the channel structure of the fission barrier.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy shifts of electronic X-rays in heavy muonic atoms

TL;DR: In this article, energy shifts of the electronic K X-rays of heavy muonic atoms have been observed and the shifts amounts to a few hundreds eV. This effect may give rise to a better understanding of muon cascade dynamics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Possible evidence for shape isomeric γ-decay in μ− atoms of 238U

TL;DR: In this article, a search for the γ-decay of the shape isomer in muonic 238 U excited by radiationless transitions has been performed, and seven delayed transitions in the energy region of 700 to 3200 keV have been observed with a large Ge(Li) detector.
Journal Article

Intensity of mesic x-ray transitions in lead, thorium, and uranium

TL;DR: The intensities of the principal transitions in muonic atoms of lead, thorium, and uranium were measured in this article, and the obtained intensities do not confirm the predictions of the cascade model.
