Distribution of bumblebees across Europe
Chiara Polce,Joachim Maes,Xavier Rotllan-Puig,Denis Michez,Leopoldo Castro,Björn Cederberg,Libor Dvorak,Úna Fitzpatrick,Frédéric Francis,Johann Neumayer,Aulo Manino,Juho Paukkunen,T. Pawlikowski,Stuart P. M. Roberts,Jakub Straka,Pierre Rasmont +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the predicted distribution of 47 species of bumblebees across 28 Member States of the European Union (EU-28) was analyzed and the value of pollination as an ecosystem service was estimated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microsatellite analysis supports the existence of three cryptic species within the bumble bee Bombus lucorum sensu lato
Lorraine McKendrick,Jim Provan,Úna Fitzpatrick,Mark J. F. Brown,Tomás E. Murray,Eckart Stolle,Robert J. Paxton,Robert J. Paxton +7 more
TL;DR: The good fit of mitochondrial haplotype to nuclear (microsatellite) genotypic data supports the view that these three bumble bee taxa are reproductively isolated species, as well as providing a vindication of species identity using so-called DNA barcodes.

Conserving diversity in Irish plant–pollinator networks
Laura Russo,Úna Fitzpatrick,Michelle Larkin,Sarah Mullen,Eileen F. Power,Dara A. Stanley,Cian D. White,Aoife O'Rourke,Julie C. Stout +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors analyzed the structure of insect-flower interactions from multiple habitat categories in a large database of interactions from Ireland and found that Irish networks had a higher ratio of plant species to pollinator species and that this difference was most evident in agricultural habitats.
