On the generation of low-frequency waves in the solar wind in the front of the bow shock
TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered the generation of low-frequency waves in the solar wind by the flux of protons accelerated in the magnetosheath and showed that the growth rate of waves is maximal when the angle θ between the direction of the interplanetary magnetic field and the front of the bow shock is not equal π2.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-latitude Pc1-2 geomagnetic pulsations and their connection with location of the dayside polar cusp
TL;DR: In this article, high-latitude Pc1-2 pulsations are investigated for regions of projections of the dayside cusp on the Earth's surface and the morphological properties of these pulsations, namely the character of their diurnal variations and dependence of their amplitude and frequency of occurrence on magnetic activity on different latitudes, suggest methods of utilization for tracing the location of the equatorial boundary of the day-side cusp.
Journal ArticleDOI
The relationship of the boundary layer of the magnetosphere to IPRP events
TL;DR: In this paper, a model is proposed in which a mixture of hot solar wind and cold atmospheric plasma flowing in the dayside equatorial boundary layer towards the dawn-dusk plane generates hydromagnetic waves near the frequency ω = ω Bi ¦1 − T ∥ ¦T ⊥ ¸ where ω bi is the ion gyrofrequency and t ∥, T ∊ are the temperatures of the solar wind plasma, parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field B.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydromagnetic “whistles” at the dayside cusps: IPRP events
TL;DR: The current status of the morphological properties of the variation of the earth's magnetic field known as Intervals of Pulsations with Rising Periods (IPRP) observed at the polar cusp stations Casey, Mirny and Heiss throughout 1978 is presented in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diurnal latitude variation of the location of the dayside cusp
V.A. Troitskaya,O.V. Bolshakova +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a method of determination of the position of the day side cusp using a limited number of ground stations is suggested, based on the properties of specific high-latitude pulsations.
