Observation by space-borne detectors of electric fields and hydromagnetic waves in the ionosphere over an earthquake centre

TL;DR: In this article, the Intercosmos-Bulgaria-1300 satellite in the nearequatorial ionosphere over an earthquake center (φ ∗ = 3.39° S and λ ∗= 177.43° E, M = 4.8) on 21 January 1982
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical model of DC electric field formation in the ionosphere stimulated by seismic activity

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that DC electric field generated in the ionosphere by this current reaches up to 10mV/m, while the long-term vertical electric field disturbances near the Earth's surface do not exceed 100v/m. This limitation of the near-ground field is caused by the formation of potential barrier for charged particles at the Earth surface in a process of their transport from soil to atmosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strong DC electric field formation in the low latitude ionosphere over typhoons

TL;DR: In this paper, a further development of the electrodynamic model of strong electric field formation in the ionosphere above the regions of tropical storm and typhoon origin and its comparison with new experimental results obtained from the satellite observations of DC electric field and plasma density variations over such regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection and monitoring of earthquake precursors: Twinsat, a Russia-uk satellite project

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a program to create a much greater understanding in this area through the deployment of a dedicated space asset along with coordinated ground stations, modelling and the creation of a highly accessible database.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Review on Electrodynamic Influence of Atmospheric Processes to the Ionosphere

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of earthquake preparation processes on the state of the earth's atmosphere and ionosphere in the zone of growing seismic activity, as well as the mechanisms of formation and transfer of disturbances in various media over the earthquake center are analyzed.
