Wake dynamics of flow past tapered bluff bodies

TL;DR: In this article, the wake dynamics from uniform and tapered bluff bodies were investigated by means of frequency (both Fourier and Wavelet) analysis, three-dimensional flow visualizations and two-point correlations.
Book ChapterDOI

Roughness effects in a rotating turbulent channel

TL;DR: In this paper, the Coriolis force due to imposed system rotation was used to turn a k.type roughness into a d. type roughness by the action of the force.
Book ChapterDOI

DNS of an Oscillating Shear Layer Between Two Parallel Couette Flows

TL;DR: In this article, a nonplanar mixing layer observed between parallel Couette flows by Narasimhamurthy et al. is considered, and simulations are run in order to determine the critical Reynolds number at which the interface between the co-flowing laminar and non-laminar flow becomes unstable exhibiting a meandering motion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Turbulent wake behind two intersecting flat plates

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered the three-dimensional wake behind a cross formed by two intersecting flat plates using direct numerical simulations and found that the vortex shedding in the wake was totally suppressed in a 4d wide intersection region and this gave rise to a massive zone of recirculating flow.
