A method for wireless communications by a UE is provided. The method generally includes determining a time division duplexing (TDD) subframe configuration defining a first number of uplink subframes and a second number downlink subframes and adjusting a transmit power level of the UE based on the TDD subframe configuration. Another method generally includes estimating SAR of the UE for a time window and taking one or more actions to reduce a number of uplink transmissions for the UE in order to achieve a target SAR for the time window.

Managing specific absorption rate for user equipments

Techniques for supporting communication for wireless devices in a wireless network are described. The wireless network may support transmission of control information on a first physical channel having a first minimum SNR for reliable reception. Some wireless devices may require operation at a lower SNR. In an aspect, low SNR operation may be supported by transmitting control information for a lower layer (e.g., Layer 1 or 2) in a protocol stack via an upper layer (e.g., Layer 3) in the protocol stack. This transmission scheme may allow the control information to be transmitted on a second physical channel instead of the first physical channel normally used to transmit the control information. The second physical channel may have a lower minimum SNR than the first minimum SNR. This transmission scheme may also allow the control information to be transmitted multiple times to improve reliability.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A user equipment (UE) may signal a band-specific measurement gap indication based on the capability of a set of receivers to measure target frequency bands while monitoring a set of component carriers (CCs). The UE may receive a measurement gap configuration for a first component carrier (CC) associated with measuring the target frequency bands accounting for the band-specific measurement gap indication. The UE may then perform a measurement on one or more of the target frequency bands according to the measurement gap configuration while continuing to monitor other configured CCs for downlink messages and transmit uplink control messages during gaps configured for the first CC (e.g., using a different receiver). In some examples the measurement gap configuration message includes configuration options and the UE may select the measurement gap configuration for the first CC from the set of available options.
