Analysis of ancient mortars and design of compatible repair mortars: The case study of Odeion of the archaeological site of Dion

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed ten mortar samples taken from Roman Odeion of the archaeological site of Dion, regarding their physico-mechanical, microstructural and chemical properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental study on the performance of lime-based grouts used in consolidating historic masonries

TL;DR: In this paper, traditional binders such as hydrated lime, pozzolan, clay and brick dust have been used as constituents of grout mixtures, which were modified with cement and admixtures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance of lime-based mortars at elevated temperatures

TL;DR: In this article, a series of lime-based mortars, designed for restoration works, were exposed to a range of elevated temperatures starting from 200°C to 1000°C, and the physicico-mechanical properties of the mortar specimens were tested before and after their 2h maintenance at different temperatures, regarding weight loss, volume change, porosity, apparent specific gravity, dynamic modulus of elasticity, flexural and compressive strength, while macroscopic and microscopic observation was also realized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis and characterization of hydraulic mortars from ancient cisterns and baths in Greece

TL;DR: In this article, structural mortars and plasters from Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman period in Greece are analyzed in terms of their physico-mechanical, chemical, and micro-structural characteristics, in order to find the key factors for their functionality.
