Journal ArticleDOI

Removal of basic (Methylene Blue) and acid (Egacid Orange) dyes from waters by sorption on chemically treated wood shavings.

TL;DR: Spruce wood shavings from Picea abies were used for an adsorptive removal of both basic as well as acid dyes from waters and the basic dye sorption decreased at low pH values in accordance with a presupposed ion-exchange mechanism of the sorption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cerium dioxide as a new reactive sorbent for fast degradation of parathion methyl and some other organophosphates

TL;DR: Cerium dioxide was used as reactive sorbent for the degradation of the organophosphate pesticides parathion methyl, chlorpyrifos, dichlofenthion, fenchlorphos, and prothiofos, as well as of some chemical warfare agents as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Removal of metal ions from aqueous solutions by sorption onto untreated low-rank coal (oxihumolite)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used oxihumolite as a sorbent for the removal of heavy metal cations (Cd 2+, Cu 2+, Co 2+ and Ni 2+ ), Pb 2+, and Zn 2+ ) from waters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of some non-conventional sorbents for the removal of arsenic from waters

TL;DR: In this paper, a cost-effective sorbent for the removal of inorganic arsenic (arsenite and arsenate) from aqueous solutions was tested and the removal efficiency was only slightly affected by the pH value in an acidic to neutral working pH range.
