Journal ArticleDOI

Control of the temperature in a petroleum refinery heating furnace based on a robust modified Smith predictor.

TL;DR: A tuning procedure is developed for this control system which has lower sensitivity to disturbances than the standard Smith predictor while guaranteeing the system stability when plant parameters change, and shows the superior performance of the control system in most cases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control-oriented model of a complex irrigation main canal pool

TL;DR: In this article, a control-oriented model of a complex irrigation main canal pool (plant), characterized by the exhibition of large variations in their dynamic parameters when the discharge regime changes in the operating range [Q min, Q max ], has been developed using system identification for control procedure and also using real-time data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving the position control of a two degrees of freedom robotic sensing antenna using fractional-order controllers

TL;DR: In this paper, a closed-loop control strategy is proposed to drive a flexible link-based sensor, based on combining a feedforward term and a feedback phase-lag compensator of fractional order.
Journal ArticleDOI

Time Domain Tuning of a Fractional Order PIα Controller Combined with a Smith Predictor for Automation of Water Distribution in Irrigation Main Channel Pools

TL;DR: In this paper, a fractional order PI α controller combined with a Smith Predictor is designed using time domain specifications, which is compared with the standard Smith predictor combined with PI α.
