Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) growth and condition in a polluted environment: from decline to recovery.

TL;DR: The results of long-term investigations of Scots pine growth and condition in the impact zone of one of the biggest air pollution sources in Lithuania--mineral fertilizers plant "Achema" are presented, indicating that the recovery of tree increment was mostly caused by distinct reduction of emissions of nitrogen and sulphur oxides and dust of mineral fertilizers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tree-ring analysis for the assessment of anthropogenic changes and trends.

TL;DR: Investigation of Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) annual radial increment was carried out in the surroundings of one of the largest pollution sources in Lithuania to analyse different sides of anthropogenictransformations of tree-ring series in the polluted environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dendrochronological research of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) radial growth in vicinity of industrial pollution

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated changes in the annual radial increment of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in the vicinity of intensive (3-10 km) and moderate (11-20 km) industrial pollution during different growth periods (growth promotion, inhibition, and recovery).
Journal ArticleDOI

Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) radial growth dynamics in forest stands in the vicinity of “Akmenes cementas” plant

TL;DR: In this paper, an investigation of Scots pine annual radial increment was carried out in the surroundings of one of the largest pollution sources in Lithuania -the cement plant Akmenes cementas.

Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) Health Condition in Kaunas City Forests

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed the dynamics of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) health condition in different Kaunas city districts in 1994-2003, and found that health condition of pine trees was worsening reliably in 1994 -1998, except Kleboniðkis2 and Lampedþiai sample plots, and in 2001-2003 - except Raudondvaris-2 sample plot.
