Journal ArticleDOI
Severe Ebola virus infection with encephalopathy. Evidence for direct virus involvement
Emmanuel Sagui,Frédéric Janvier,Sylvain Baize,Sylvain Baize,Vincent Foissaud,Fassou Koulibaly,Hélène Savini,Nancy Maugey,M. Aletti,Hervé Granier,Thierry Carmoi +10 more
TL;DR: The demonstration of a detectable CSF viral load in this case indicates that EV can cross the blood-brain barrier and thus may have a pathogenic role in the onset of encephalitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rhabdomyolysis in Ebola Virus Disease. Results of an Observational Study in a Treatment Center in Guinea
Jean Marie Cournac,Ludovic Karkowski,Julien Bordes,M. Aletti,S. Duron,Frédéric Janvier,Vincent Foissaud,Hélène Savini,Thierry de Greslan,Claire Rousseau,Magali Billhot,Nicolas Gagnon,Christine Mac Nab,Philippe Dubrous,Sophie Moroge,Helene Broto,Jean Cotte,Nancy Maugey,Pierre-Yves Cordier,Emmanuel Sagui,Audrey Mérens,Christophe Rapp,Benoit Quentin,Hervé Granier,Thierry Carmoi,Gilles Cellarier +25 more
TL;DR: Rhabdomyolysis is a frequent disorder in EVD and seems to be more common than in other viral infections and may contribute to the renal failure observed in nonsurviving patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moderate thermal strain in healthcare workers wearing personal protective equipment during treatment and care activities in the context of the 2014 Ebola virus disease outbreak
Laurent Grélot,Fassou Koulibaly,Nancy Maugey,Frédéric Janvier,Vincent Foissaud,M. Aletti,Hélène Savini,Jean Cotte,Henry Dampierre,Hervé Granier,Thierry Carmoi,Emmanuel Sagui +11 more
TL;DR: Twenty-five French healthcare workers in Conakry, Guinea, volunteered to be monitored while wearing PPE using an ingestible thermal sensor and exhibited moderate but safe thermal strain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Difficulties of interpretation of Zaire Ebola Virus PCR results and implication in the field
Frédéric Janvier,Sophie Gorbatch,Lucie Queval,Julie Top,Cécile Vigier,Jean Cotte,Vincent Foissaud +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Ebola Virus RNA Stability in Human Blood and Urine in West Africa's Environmental Conditions.
Frédéric Janvier,Déborah Delaune,Thomas Poyot,Eric Valade,Audrey Mérens,Pierre E. Rollin,Vincent Foissaud +6 more
TL;DR: In blood and urine samples collected from infected patients and stored in West Africa’s environmental conditions, RNA was stable for at least 18 days when initial cycle threshold values were <30, but in urine, RNA degradation occurred more quickly.
