Apoptosis Induction Of Centella Asiatica On Human Breast Cancer Cells
Suboj Babykutty,Jose Padikkala,Priya Prasanna Sathiadevan,Vinod Vijayakurup,Thasni Karedath Abdul Azis,Priya Srinivas,Srinivas Gopala +6 more
TL;DR: MCF-7 cells emerged as the most sensitive cell line for in vitro growth inhibitory activity and C. asiatica extract induced apoptosis in MCF- 7 cells as indicated by nuclear condensation, increased annexin staining, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and induction of DNA breaks identified by TUNEL reactivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resveratrol chemosensitizes HER-2-overexpressing breast cancer cells to docetaxel chemoresistance by inhibiting docetaxel-mediated activation of HER-2-Akt axis.
Balachandran S Vinod,Haritha H. Nair,Vinod Vijayakurup,A Shabna,Safdar Hussain Shah,A Krishna,Kavya S. Pillai,Sanu Thankachan,Ruby John Anto +8 more
TL;DR: The role of Her-2–Akt signaling axis is established in regulating the synergistic effect of docetaxel and resveratrol in breast cancer cells overexpressing HER-2, and might help to overcome therapeutic resistance during breast cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Folic acid conjugation improves the bioavailability and chemosensitizing efficacy of curcumin-encapsulated PLGA-PEG nanoparticles towards paclitaxel chemotherapy.
Arun Kumar T. Thulasidasan,Arun Kumar T. Thulasidasan,Archana P. Retnakumari,Mohan Shankar,Mohan Shankar,Vinod Vijayakurup,Shabna Anwar,Shabna Anwar,Sanu Thankachan,Kavya S. Pillai,Jisha J. Pillai,C. Devika Nandan,Vijai V. Alex,Teena Jacob Chirayil,Teena Jacob Chirayil,Sankar Sundaram,Gopalakrishnapillai Sankaramangalam Vinod Kumar,Ruby John Anto +17 more
TL;DR: The efficacy of PPF-curcumin formulation in augmenting the bioavailability and retention time of curcumin, in vivo, in Swiss albino mice is demonstrated and the acute and chronic toxicity studies proved that the formulation is pharmacologically safe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chitosan Encapsulation Enhances the Bioavailability and Tissue Retention of Curcumin and Improves its Efficacy in Preventing B[a]P-induced Lung Carcinogenesis
Vinod Vijayakurup,Arun Kumar T. Thulasidasan,Mohan Shankar G,Mohan Shankar G,Archana P. Retnakumari,C. Devika Nandan,Jannet Somaraj,Jayesh Antony,Vijai V. Alex,Balachandran S Vinod,Vijayasteltar Belsamma Liju,Sankar Sundaram,G. S. Vinod Kumar,Ruby John Anto +13 more
TL;DR: This study underscores the supremacy of the formulation over free curcumin and establishes it as a potential chemopreventive and oral supplement against environmental carcinogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
High LC3/Beclin Expression Correlates with Poor Survival in Glioma: a Definitive Role for Autophagy as Evidenced by In Vitro Autophagic Flux
Padmakrishnan Cj,Easwer Hv,Vinod Vijayakurup,Girish Menon,Girish Menon,Suresh Nair,Srinivas Gopala +6 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that autophagy is non-defective in glioma and high LC3/beclin 1 expression correlates with poor PFS in both LGG and HGG and the results depicted that the role of autophagic during stress varies with tissue and has a negative correlation with mTOR substrate phosphorylation.
