Epidemiology of surgically managed pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.

TL;DR: Pelvic floor dysfunction is a major health issue for older women, as shown by the 11.1% lifetime risk of undergoing a single operation for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, as well as the large proportion of reoperations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiologic evaluation of reoperation for surgically treated pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence

TL;DR: A 5-year prospective, observational study was conducted of women who had undergone pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence surgery in 1995 as mentioned in this paper, with an overall risk of reoperation of 17% compared with 12% for women who underwent a first procedure (log rank, P =.04).
Journal ArticleDOI

Frequency and management of breakthrough bleeding with continuous use of the transvaginal contraceptive ring: a randomized controlled trial.

TL;DR: A reduction in bleeding occurred during continuous use with replacement of the transvaginal ring compared with baseline 21/7 use, which resulted in an acceptable bleeding profile in most patients, reduced in flow, reduction in pelvic pain, and a high continuation rate.
