ROEBEL Assembled Coated Conductors (RACC): Preparation, Properties and Progress

TL;DR: In this paper, a 16-strand RACC-cable with 19 cm transposition length made from coated conductors (CC) material from the commercial supplier SuperPower achieved a transport critical current of 77 K (Jeng = 11.3 kAcm-2).
Journal ArticleDOI

In situ MgB2 round wires with improved properties

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of filament size on the performance of high-current MgB2 wires has been investigated for a satellite application in the ASTRO-E2 XRS instrument.
Journal ArticleDOI

AC transport current losses of multifilamentary Bi(2223) tapes with varying filament geometries

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the ac transport current loss of eight different Bi(2223) tapes with varying filament geometries in the frequency range from 13 to 500 Hz at 77 K.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development and performance of thin steel reinforced MgB 2 wires and low-temperature in situ processing for further improvements

TL;DR: In this paper, a very thin steel reinforced MgB2 wires for application as current leads in a research satellite was developed. But the results of the experiments were limited to the case where the wires were tested with transport current measurements and investigated with applied tensile and bending strains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Suitability of sheath materials for MgB2 powder-in-tube superconductors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the latest development of extremely thin, stainless steel sheathed MgB 2 wires (wire diameter down to 50μm, filament diameter up to 26μm) and of mono and multifilament wires with sheath composites of Nb, Cu, CuSn, CuNiZn, Fe and stainless steel.
