An evaluation of A = 16-17 was published in Nuclear Physics A564 (1993), p. 1. This version of A = 17 differs from the published version in that we have corrected some errors discovered after the article went to press. The introductio n and introductory tables have been omitted from this manuscript. Reference key numbers have been changed to the NNDC/TUNL format.

Scattering of radioactive nuclei 6He and 3H by protons: Effects of neutron skin and halo in 6He, 8He, and 11Li

We describe a source for a monoenergetic, high intensity beam of polarized neutrons, which is produced via the 2H(p, n)2p reaction at 0°. The neutron flux of ∼ 105 neutrons s−1 cm−2 μA−1 is determined from a new measurement of the 0° cross section. The neutron polarization averaged over the monoenergetic peak with a width of ∼ 2.5 MeV fwhm is about 0.3. Beam time resolutions in the subnanosecond range have been obtained.

A facility for monoenergetic polarized neutrons of 30–70 MeV

We have measured the differential cross section d\ensuremath{\sigma}/d\ensuremath{\Omega} and the analyzing power ${A}_{y}$ in the elastic p${\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}^{4}$He scattering at 71.9 MeV. These data, together with all other existing data between 30 and 65 MeV, were subjected to a phase-shift analysis. New fixed energy solutions were found, which typically exhibit lower ${\ensuremath{\chi}}^{2}$ values than existing solutions and are consistent with a continuous energy dependence. An energy-dependent analysis with a quadratic energy dependence reproduced the trend of the single-energy solutions, but yielded large ${\ensuremath{\chi}}^{2}$ values.

Ay in n-d elastic scattering: a test for three-nucleon calculations

High momentum transfer RT,L response functions for 3,4He

We have measured the transverse and the longitudinal polarization transfer coefficients ${K}_{y}^{y\mathcal{'}}$ and ${K}_{z}^{z\mathcal{'}}$ at 0\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} in the (p,n) reactions from $^{6}$,7Li and $^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ for proton energies near 55 MeV. Except for the $^{6}\mathrm{Li}$(p,n)Be reaction, where ${K}_{y}^{y\mathcal{'}}$(0\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{})=-0.33\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04, all transfer coefficients are l0.20 and thus not very suitable for the production of polarized neutrons.
