Hadron-hadron collisions at high energies are investigated in the Ultra-relativistic-Quantum-Molecular-Dynamics approach (UrQMD). This microscopic transport model is designed to study pp, pA and A+A collisions. It describes the phenomenology of hadronic interactions at low and intermediate energies ($\sqrt s 5$ GeV, the excitation of color strings and their subsequent fragmentation into hadrons dominates the multiple production of particles in the UrQMD model. The model shows a fair overall agreement with a large body of experimental h-h data over a wide range of h-h center-of-mass energies. Hadronic reaction data with higher precision would be useful to support the use of the UrQMD model for relativistic heavy ion collisions.

Relativistic hadron-hadron collisions in the ultra-relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model

We present a study of the inclusive production ofK
*(892) and ∑t+-(1385)+cc at 3.6 GeV/c from
 
$$\bar p$$

 
p interactions. The sensitivity of the exposure is 35.4 events/μb. Longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions are presented. The indirect production ofK

 0
 from parentK
* and that of Λ's from parent Σ(1385) are studied. The shape of thex distribution of Λ's for
 
$$p\xrightarrow{{\bar p}}\Lambda $$

 are calculated from
 
$$p\xrightarrow{p}\Lambda $$

 and
 
$$p\xrightarrow{{\pi ^ - }}\Lambda $$

 and compared with the experimental distributions. The difference of antiparticle production cross-section ofK

 0
 in the central region is compared with the expectation from Mueller-Regge formalism.

Hadronic and electromagnetic probes of hot and dense nuclear matter

▪ Abstract We provide an overview of the present understanding of the transition from hadrons to a quark-gluon plasma, its signatures, and the experimental results so far. We discuss results of numerical simulations of the lattice gauge theory and critically evaluate the various observables that have been proposed as signatures of the QCD phase transition. We place the existing data from relativistic heavy-ion experiments at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) and CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) into perspective and provide an overview of the techniques and strategies that will be employed in the search for the quark-gluon plasma at heavy-ion colliders, such as the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
