TL;DR: For multiuser data signals the minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) estimation using an array of antennas is analyzed for binary, synchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems.
Abstract: For multiuser data signals the minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) estimation using an array of antennas is analyzed for binary, synchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. The receiver consists of an array of beamformers followed by a bank of matched filters and the MMSE multiuser detector (MUD). The performance of the space-time MMSE is investigated over both the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, and the flat Rayleigh fading channel. Digital computer simulations are used in the paper to confirm the validity of the approximations used in the analysis to determine the system bit error rate.

TL;DR: It is shown that the proposed RS coded space-time MMSE-MUD offers a substantial performance improvement over the uncodes single-user bound, the coded conventional detection system with an antenna array and the uncoded space time MMSE -MUD.
Abstract: We examine the performance of coded DS-CDMA wireless systems over both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and flat Rayleigh fading channels. The code used is based on Reed-Solomon (RS) codes. The performance of the minimum mean square error (MMSE) multiuser detection (MUD) combined with an antenna array in the coded DS-CDMA system is investigated. It is shown that the proposed RS coded space-time MMSE-MUD offers a substantial performance improvement over the uncoded single-user bound, the coded conventional detection system with an antenna array and the uncoded space time MMSE-MUD.
