Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic Value of Histologic Subtypes in Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Multicenter Experience
Jean Jacques Patard,Emmanuelle Leray,Nathalie Rioux-Leclercq,Luca Cindolo,Vincenzo Ficarra,Amnon Zisman,Alexandre de la Taille,Jacques Tostain,Walter Artibani,Claude C. Abbou,Bernard Lobel,Francois Guille,Chopin D,Peter F.A. Mulders,Christopher G. Wood,David A. Swanson,Robert A. Figlin,Arie S. Belldegrun,Allan J. Pantuck +18 more
TL;DR: In univariate analysis, a trend toward a better survival was observed when clear cell, papillary, and chromophobe histologies were considered and the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox model was used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Safety and efficacy of partial nephrectomy for all t1 tumors based on an international multicenter experience
Jean-Jacques Patard,Oleg Shvarts,John S. Lam,Allan J. Pantuck,Hyung L. Kim,Vincenzo Ficarra,Luca Cindolo,Ken-ryu Han,Alexandre de la Taille,Jacques Tostain,Walter Artibani,Claude C. Abbou,Bernard Lobel,Chopin D,Robert A. Figlin,Peter F.A. Mulders,Arie S. Belldegrun +16 more
TL;DR: This large multicenter study suggests that it is safe to expand the indications of partial nephrectomy to include patients with T1N0M0 renal tumors up to 7 cm, however, careful patient selection remains necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic Value of Histologic Subtypes in Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Multicenter Experience
J-J. Patard,E. Leray,Nathalie Rioux-Leclercq,Luca Cindolo,Vincenzo Ficarra,Amnon Zisman,A. De La Taille,Jacques Tostain,Walter Artibani,Claude C. Abbou,Bernard Lobel,F. Guillé,Chopin D,Peter F.A. Mulders,Christopher G. Wood,David A. Swanson,Robert A. Figlin,Arie S. Belldegrun,Allan J. Pantuck +18 more
TL;DR: The stratification in three main renal cell carcinoma histologic subtypes as defined by the 1997 UICC-American Joint Committee on Cancer consensus should not be considered a major prognostic variable comparable to TNM stage, Fuhrman grade and ECOG PS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of the University of California Los Angeles Integrated Staging System to Predict Survival in Renal Cell Carcinoma: An International Multicenter Study
Jean Jacques Patard,Hyung L. Kim,John S. Lam,Frederick J. Dorey,Allan J. Pantuck,Amnon Zisman,Vincenzo Ficarra,Ken Ryu Han,Luca Cindolo,Alexandre de la Taille,Jacques Tostain,Walter Artibani,Colin P.N. Dinney,Christopher G. Wood,David A. Swanson,Claude C. Abbou,Bernard Lobel,Peter F.A. Mulders,Chopin D,Robert A. Figlin,Arie S. Belldegrun +20 more
TL;DR: The UISS is an accurate predictor of survival for patients with localized RCC applicable to external databases and may be less accurate in this subset of patients due to the heterogeneity of patients and treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Symptoms as well as tumor size provide prognostic information on patients with localized renal tumors.
Jean-Jacques Patard,Frederick J. Dorey,Luca Cindolo,Vincenzo Ficarra,Alexandre de la Taille,Jacques Tostain,Walter Artibani,Claude C. Abbou,Bernard Lobel,Chopin D,Robert A. Figlin,Arie S. Belldegrun,Allan J. Pantuck +12 more
TL;DR: The data support the idea that symptoms should be integrated in further modifications of the TNM system, as a system combining tumor size and symptoms can accurately stratify patients for predicting survival in those with organ confined renal tumors.
