TL;DR: The moments and radii of extremely neutron-rich radon and xenon isotopes have been investigated by collinear fast-beam laser spectroscopy as mentioned in this paper, and the results are discussed within the systematics of nuclear shapes around N=136 and N=90.
Abstract: The moments and radii of extremely neutron‐rich radon and xenon isotopes have been investigated by collinear fast‐beam laser spectroscopy. The experiment has became possible owing to the breakthrough in sensitivity achieved by the detection of optical pumping via state‐selective collisional ionization. The results are discussed within the systematics of nuclear shapes around N=136 and N=90. In the latter context measurements on the neutron‐deficient holmium isotopes give new details about the developement of nuclear deformation.
