Heat treatment effect on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and wear behaviors of stainless steel 316L prepared via selective laser melting

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of heat treatment on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and wear behaviors of stainless steel 316L (SS316L) produced via selective laser melting (SLM) was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of wear induced particle emissions from brake pads during the worldwide harmonized light vehicles test procedure (WLTP)

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the mechanism of airborne particle generation using commercial brake pads and found that the emission factor of low-steel brake pads was approximately five times greater than that of non-steel ones on average.
Journal ArticleDOI

Size effect of zircon particles in brake pads on the composition and size distribution of emitted particulate matter

TL;DR: In this paper, the size effect of zircon particles in brake pads was investigated, and the results showed that the concentration, size distribution, and composition of PM are strongly influenced by the size of the particles, suggesting that the amount and chemistry of the brake-induced PM are governed by different wear mechanisms at the sliding interface, which depend on the abrasive size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of reinforcing fibers on airborne particle emissions from brake pads

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of reinforcing fibers in the brake friction material on brake emission was investigated, and the results showed that the use of steel fiber and aramid fiber resulted in the highest and lowest brake emissions, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of the mechanical property and size of the surface contacts of the brake lining on friction instability

TL;DR: The correlation between the size and mechanical property of the surface contacts of the brake linings and the stick-slip characteristics was studied using a Krauss tester and a scaled dynamometer.
