Apparatus and method for providing a combined ultrasonic and eddy current inspection of a tube

TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus and a method for simultaneously inspecting the walls of a tube with both ultrasonic and eddy current probes is described. Butler et al. present a different approach, in which the data generated by the three ultrasonic probes is correlated with the data produced by the EDD current probe for each specific section of the tube, and displayed simultaneously to the system operator.

System and method for remotely heating a polymeric material to a selected temperature

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for remotely heating a polymeric material to a selected temperature is presented. But the system generally comprises particulate ferromagnetic material dispersed throughout the polymeric materials to form a composite, wherein the particulate material has a Curie temperature that corresponds to the selected heating temperature, and a source of microwave energy for remotely applying a beam of microwaved energy to the polymer composite material.

System and method for qualitatively and nondestructively inspecting adhesive joints and other materials

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for nondestructively inspecting and monitoring materials that indicate the structural integrity of the material is disclosed, which includes the following steps: First, the material to be subsequently monitored, is tagged by dispersing a small amount of finely divided particles throughout the material.

Ultrasonic nondestructive tubing inspection system

TL;DR: In this paper, a system for measuring the extent of tube wall erosion in an inspection region of a heat exchanger tube of a nuclear steam generator, using an ultrasonic means driven helically inside the eroded tube which may be filled with a fluid to minimize ultrasonic wave attenuation.

Eddy current stress-strain gauge

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the stress or strain in a magnetic workpiece by a method in which the workpiece is locally magnetized by a constant magnetic field, an eddy current probe is placed adjacent to the work piece, and an electrical characteristic of the probe, which is proportional to stress, is measured.
