Journal ArticleDOI

Genome and proteome of long-chain alkane degrading Geobacillus thermodenitrificans NG80-2 isolated from a deep-subsurface oil reservoir

TL;DR: The genome reveals that NG80-2 is well equipped for adaptation into a wide variety of environmental niches, including oil reservoirs, by possessing genes for utilization of a broad range of energy sources, genes encoding various transporters for efficient nutrient uptake and detoxification, and genes for a flexible respiration system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Discovery of glycosyltransferases using carbohydrate arrays and mass spectrometry

TL;DR: An approach that combines arrays of reactions on an immobilized array of acceptors with analysis by mass spectrometry to screen putative GTs is described, providing a label-free method for the rapid functional annotation of putative enzymes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Defining Function of Lipopolysaccharide O-antigen Ligase WaaL Using Chemoenzymatically Synthesized Substrates

TL;DR: The present work represents an in vitro systematic investigation of the WaaL function using a chemical biology approach, providing a system that could facilitate the elucidation of the mechanism of WAAL-catalyzed ligation reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of a Serotype-Specific DNA Microarray for Identification of Some Shigella and Pathogenic Escherichia coli Strains

TL;DR: A DNA microarray targeting O-serotype-specific genes was developed and shown to be specific and reproducible for serotyping Shigella and pathogenic E. coli and is promising for applications in basic microbiological research, clinical diagnosis, food safety, and epidemiological surveillance.
