TL;DR: In this paper, the authors draw on the behavioral theory of the firm to the postulate relationships between organizational slack and performance aspirations, and internationalization processes, and find that firms with high organizational slack that have performance that falls below aspirations managers are more likely to exhibit a rapid pace, a wider scope, and an irregular rhythm in their internationalization process.

The internationalization and performance of a firm: Moderating effect of a firm's behavior

TL;DR: In this paper, a study on a firm's internationalization is based on newly industrialized economies to shed additional light on the relationship between internationalization and performance, and they found that firms tend to exhibit positive performance in internationalization when they have a higher level of organizational slack and attainment discrepancy.
