Journal ArticleDOI
Microbiological Diagnostic Performance of Metagenomic Next-generation Sequencing When Applied to Clinical Practice.
Qing Miao,Yuyan Ma,Qingqing Wang,Jue Pan,Yao Zhang,Wenting Jin,Yumeng Yao,Yi Su,Yingnan Huang,Mengran Wang,Bing Li,Hua-Ying Li,Chunmei Zhou,Chun Li,Maosong Ye,Xiaoling Xu,Yongjun Li,Bijie Hu +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the sensitivity and specificity of mNGS and culture for diagnosing infectious disease and found that mNGs yielded a higher sensitivity for pathogen identification and is less affected by prior antibiotic exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
The clinical value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing in the microbiological diagnosis of skin and soft tissue infections.
Qingqing Wang,Qing Miao,Jue Pan,Wenting Jin,Yuyan Ma,Yao Zhang,Yumeng Yao,Yi Su,Yingnan Huang,Bing Li,Mengran Wang,Na Li,Sishi Cai,Yu Luo,Chunmei Zhou,Honglong Wu,Bijie Hu +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the sensitivity of mNGS for detecting pathogens in SSTI cases was superior to that of culture testing (67.7% vs. 35.4%).
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of superinfection, antimicrobial usage, and airway microbiome with metagenomic sequencing in COVID-19 patients: A cohort study in Shanghai.
Qing Miao,Yuyan Ma,Yun Ling,Wenting Jin,Yi Su,Qingqing Wang,Jue Pan,Yao Zhang,Hongyou Chen,Jianying Yuan,Honglong Wu,Bijie Hu +11 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper analyzed COVID-19 patients for co-infection rate and antimicrobial usage in Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center (SPHCC) from January 23rd to March 14th 2020.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic accuracy of metagenomic next-generation sequencing for active tuberculosis in clinical practice at a tertiary general hospital.
Wenting Jin,Jue Pan,Qing Miao,Yuyan Ma,Yao Zhang,Yingnan Huang,Yumeng Yao,Yi Su,Qingqing Wang,Mengran Wang,Bing Li,Rong Bao,Xiaodong Gao,Honglong Wu,Bijie Hu +14 more
TL;DR: mNGS may be a promising technology for the early auxiliary diagnosis of active TB, especially sputum-negative pulmonary TB (PTB) and tuberculous serous effusion and in clinical TB cases, mNGS detected additional positive results.
Journal ArticleDOI
A rare case of adrenal gland abscess due to anaerobes detected by metagenomic next-generation sequencing
Wenting Jin,Qing Miao,Mengran Wang,Yao Zhang,Yuyan Ma,Yingnan Huang,Honglong Wu,Yang Lin,Bijie Hu,Jue Pan +9 more
TL;DR: A 50-year-old woman presented with right back pain, low fever, leukocytosis, a high level of C-reactive protein and a high erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and metagenomic next-generation sequencing of both the pus and blood showed high reads of multiple pathogens, including anaerobes and the three culture-positive pathogens.
