Journal ArticleDOI

The hemodynamic determinants of the rate of change in pressure in the left ventricle during isometric contraction.

TL;DR: The phasic pressure, time derivative of pressure, circumference and isometric contractile tension (Walton-Brodie strain-gauge arch) of the left ventricle have been simultaneously recorded in a series of anesthetized, thoracotomized, innervated dogs to study variations in myocardial function and systemic resistance induced by the administration of epinephrine and methoxamine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wide frequency range force ballistocardiogram; its correlation with cardiovascular dynamics.

TL;DR: The ballistocardiograms of young normal subjects as recorded with a wide frequency range technic are described and an analysis of these components in terms of known cardiovascular events strongly suggests that they have definite dynamic significance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Circulatory and ventilatory responses to postprandial exercise.

TL;DR: The changes found can be best explained by a postprandial decrease in effective blood volume, an increase in myocardial inotropic state, and an alteration in the distribution of cardiac output.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct surgery for coronary artery disease. Technique for left anterior descending coronary artery bypass.

TL;DR: Direct anastomosis of the end of the internal mammary arteries to the side of the distal left anterior descending coronary artery with microsurgical technique produces an immediate increase in myocardial perfusion rather than a delayed increase as after mammary artery implantation.
