Combined cooling and power plant with water extraction
William E. Lear,S. A. Sherif +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an absorption refrigeration system is used to pre-cool an air-gas mixture before it enters the high-pressure compressor, thereby increasing the thermal efficiency of the turbine engine.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Direct boundary value solution of wave rotor flow fields
TL;DR: In this paper, a method to analyze the flow in wave rotors and their adjoining ducts has been formulated and implemented, showing that for off-design conditions the port flows are significantly non-uniform, contrary to conventional models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficiency and gasdynamic analysis of two-phase mixtures in supersonic nozzles with inter-phase heat transfer and slip
TL;DR: In this paper, a gas-dynamic analysis of the acceleration of a condensed phase/gaseous mixture through a converging-diverging nozzle is presented, and the model used for this analysis calculates the exit kinetic energy in terms of the mixture properties as well as the dissipative effects of heat transfer and slip between the phases.

Fundamental investigation using active plasma control to reduce blade–vortex interaction noise:
Trushant K. Patel,Alexander J. Lilley,Weiqi Shen,Christian Porrello,Alexander Schindler-Tyka,Subrata Roy,William E. Lear,Steven A. E. Miller +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a plasminar actuator strategically placed at the tip of the rotor blades can reduce the strength of the tip vortic vortex interaction noise, which is a problematic component of rotor noise.
