There is disclosed in one example a digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) circuit adapted to avoid loop-bandwidth tradeoff, the circuit including: a frequency dimension frequency detector having an external frequency input and a feedback frequency input, the frequency dimension frequency detector including circuitry to measure a frequency difference between the external frequency input and the feedback frequency input and to drive an impulse signal, wherein the impulse signal is of a first species if the difference is positive and of a second species if the difference is negative; and a number-controlled oscillator (NCO) including circuitry to drive an output clock and to adjust the frequency of the output clock responsive to the impulse signal, wherein an output of the NCO provides the feedback frequency input of the frequency dimension frequency detector.

The approach involves segmenting a plurality of weather forecast reports according to a plurality of segmentation categories, the plurality of segmentation categories representing respective one or more forecast parameters. The approach also involves determining respective values of the plurality of segmentation categories from each of the plurality of weather forecasts. The approach further involves selecting a representative value from the respective values for each of the one or more segmentation categories. The approach further involves combining the representative value for said each of the plurality of segmentation categories to generate an interpolated weather forecast report.

A method and apparatus may include activating, by a network node, power of a global-positioning-system receiver or power of an active antenna of the global-positioning-system receiver. The apparatus uses the global-positioning-system receiver to perform synchronization of the apparatus. The method may include receiving at least one measurement, wherein the at least one measurement comprises real-time, predictive, or historic data. The method may also include determining a holdover duration based on the at least one measurement. The holdover duration corresponds to a length of time where the power of the global-positioning-system receiver or the power of the active antenna is to be turned off. The method may also include deactivating the power of the global-positioning-system receiver or the power of the active antenna for the holdover duration.

Method and apparatus for reducing energy consumption

Systems and techniques for oscillator control are described. A fixed or controlled oscillator feeds a plurality of evenly spaced tap points multiplexed to an output by a multiplexer. A phase change control circuit changes the multiplexer to a new tap point one phase tap at a time, with the change being made when an oscillator clock edge will not be repeated to an output. The phase change control circuit determines when to change the multiplexer setting based on the overflow of an accumulator, which is continuously summing an increment value. The sign of the accumulator increment value determines the direction of the multiplexor updates. The resulting output signal from the multiplexor is a new output frequency related to the oscillator frequency and the accumulator increment value. With a plurality of multiplexer controlled outputs and corresponding phase change control circuits, a plurality of output frequencies can be created from one oscillator.
