Journal Article

Effect of aging on aortic morphology in populations with high and low prevalence of hypertension and atherosclerosis. Comparison between occidental and Chinese communities.

TL;DR: Hypertension (as defined by the morphologic changes in the kidney) after adjusting for age, height, and weight resulted in no statistical significant effect on aortic circumference or on intimal thickness, but did show a significant increase in atherosclerosis score at locations B, C, and D.
Journal Article

Studies on the subcellular pathophysiology of ischemia.

TL;DR: The loss of ability to synthesize adenosine triphosphate by mitochondria in ischemic cells even in a favorable medium correlates with the loss of cell viability and the early lesion at the molecular level appears to involve an increased permeability of the mitochondrial membrane possibly promoting proton leak and obviating oxidative phosphorylation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on the subcellular pathophysiology of acute lethal cell injury.

TL;DR: The effects of acute lethal injury on the cell is summarized and a hypothesis of progression through the stages and the reversibility is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage temporally related to cocaine smoking.

TL;DR: A patient who developed life-threatening alveolar hemorrhage following repeated inhalation of alkaloid cocaine is reported, indicating a reduction in carbon monoxide diffusing capacity.
