In this paper, we design and implement a lighting system which has a capability of adjusting brightness and colors of LED module. The lighting systems is consisted of RGB and white LEDs controlled by a micro-processor. All colors in nature can be synthesized in our lighting system by controlling brightness of 4 color LEDs individually. The current flowing to LED is limited to a maximum set value to extend the LED life time using PWM current control. The control module also includes the function that it can save and load brightness and color data set by the user. The implemented lighting system passed the electromagnetic compatibility(EMC) test such that it can be used as a commercial product.

Design and Implementation of LED Lighting System with Adjustable Brightness and Color Capability

Millions of individuals across the world suffer from corneal stromal diseases that impair vision. Fortunately, three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting technology which has revolutionized the field of regenerative tissue engineering makes it feasible to create personalized corneas. In this study, an artificial cornea with a high degree of precision, smoothness, and programmable curvature was prepared by using digital light processing (DLP) 3D bioprinting in one piece with no support structure, and the construct was then confirmed by optical coherence tomography (OCT). On the basis of this approach, we developed a novel corneal decellularized extracellular matrix/gelatin methacryloyl (CECM-GelMA) bioink that can produce complex microenvironments with highly tunable mechanical properties while retaining high optical transmittance. Furthermore, the composite hydrogel was loaded with human corneal fibroblasts (hCFs), and in vitro experiments showed that the hydrogel maintained high cell viability and expressed core proteins. In vivo tests revealed that the hydrogel might promote epithelial regeneration, keep the matrix aligned, and restore clarity. This demonstrates how crucial a role CECM plays in establishing a favorable environment that encourages the transformation of cell function. Therefore, artificial corneas that can be rapidly customized have a huge potential in the development of in vitro corneal matrix analogs. 

3D Bioprinting of Corneal Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (CECM): GelMA Composite Hydrogel for Corneal Stroma Engineering

At the on-site of broadcasting production, the light source of tungsten halogen has been used as a primary light source for representing video images. Although tungsten halogen light has drawn attention in terms of the color reproducibility which is more similar to the sun light than that of other light sources, meanwhile it had problems in energy efficiency. Recently, the LED light source with high efficiency and long lifetime of the energy source has started getting attention as a substitute light source at the broadcast field. Because of the unique light emission principles, compared with tungsten halogen, LED light source has different characteristics in the quality of the light projected from the light source and color reproduction of the video image through a camera. These characteristics cause the delayed introduction of the LED as the broadcast light source. In this study we measured the quality characteristics of the flatness of the color reproduction and light of the LED light source and will present the experimental data whether it is suitable as the broadcasting light source compared to a reference light source of tungsten halogen. In addition, we suggested the future challenges and standards which are needed to expand usage of LED as a broadcast light source.

A Study on Color Reproduction and Flatness of the LED Light Source in Broadcasting Lighting

The decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) is capable of promoting stem cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and differentiation. It is a promising biomaterial for application and clinical translation in the field of periodontal tissue engineering as it most effectively preserves the complex array of ECM components as they are in native tissue, providing ideal cues for regeneration and repair of damaged periodontal tissue. dECMs of different origins have different advantages and characteristics in promoting the regeneration of periodontal tissue. dECM can be used directly or dissolved in liquid for better flowability. Multiple ways were developed to improve the mechanical strength of dECM, such as functionalized scaffolds with cells that harvest scaffold-supported dECM through decellularization or crosslinked soluble dECM that can form injectable hydrogels for periodontal tissue repair. dECM has found recent success in many periodontal regeneration and repair therapies. This review focuses on the repairing effect of dECM in periodontal tissue engineering, with variations in cell/tissue sources, and specifically discusses the future trend of periodontal regeneration and the future role of soluble dECM in entire periodontal tissue regeneration.

Advances Focusing on the Application of Decellularized Extracellular Matrix in Periodontal Regeneration

Corneal fibrosis is a common outcome of inappropriate repair associated with trauma or ocular infection. Altered biomechanical properties with increased corneal stiffness is a feature of fibrosis that cause corneal opacities, resulting in severe visual impairment and even blindness. The present study aims to determine the effect of hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT) and matrix stiffness on transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)-induced fibrotic processes in human corneal fibroblasts (HTK cells). HTK cells were cultured on substrates with different stiffnesses ("soft", ∼261 kPa; "stiff", ∼2.5 × 103 kPa) and on tissue culture plastic (TCP, ∼106 kPa) and simultaneously treated with or without 1 μg/mL HCPT and 10 ng/mL TGF-β1. We found that HCPT induced decreased cell viability and antiproliferative effects on HTK cells. TGF-β1-induced expression of fibrosis-related genes (FN1, ACTA2) was reduced if the cells were simultaneously treated with HCPT. Substrate stiffness did not affect the expression of fibrosis-related genes. The TGF-β1 induced expression of FN1 on both soft and stiff substrates was reduced if cells were simultaneously treated with HCPT. However, this trend was not seen for ACTA2, i.e., the TGF-β1 induced expression of ACTA2 was not reduced by simultaneous treatment of HCPT in either soft or stiff substrate. Instead, HCPT treatment in the presence of TGF-β1 resulted in increased gene expression of keratocyte phenotype makers (LUM, KERA, AQP1, CHTS6) on both substrate stiffnesses. In addition, the protein expression of keratocyte phenotype makers LUM and ALDH3 was increased in HTK cells simultaneously treated with TGF-β1 and HCPT on stiff substrate as compared to control, i.e., without HCPT. In conclusion, we found that HCPT can reduce TGF-β1-induced fibrosis and promote the keratocyte phenotype in a substrate stiffness dependent manner. Thus, HCPT stimulation might be an approach to stimulate keratocytes in the appropriate healing stage to avoid or reverse fibrosis and achieve more optimal corneal wound healing.

This study is intended to compare physical properties of fluorescent luminaires with ones of LED luminaires so as to analyze fundamental characteristics of LED luminaires. For this, a comparative analysis of uniformity ratio of illuminance and luminance distribution of these two luminaires was made, and materials for applying LED luminaires to interior construction space were prepared. This study was carried out in four stages. First, a theoretical review on LED illumination light source was made compared with the existing luminaires. Second, a mock-up to control experimental variables to meet the objective of this study was manufactured. Third uniformity ratio of illuminance and luminance distribution of each luminaire were measured by using the mock-up. Fourth, a comparative analysis of uniformity ratio of illuminance and characteristics of luminance distribution of the existing fluorescent luminaires and LED ones was made. As a result of the study, the uniformity ratio of illuminance of LED luminaires, 0.559, was higher than one of the existing fluorescent luminaires, 0.522. Namely, it was shown that illuminance distribution of LED luminaires was uniform and global diffuse was good. As a result of measuring luminance distribution, it was found that luminance distribution of LED luminaires was more uniform than one of the existing fluorescent luminaires. The maximum luminance of fluorescent luminaires and LED luminaires over the wall was and respectively. Namely, the maximum luminance of fluorescent luminaires was higher than one of LED luminaires. The average luminance of fluorescent luminaires and LED luminaires was and . Like this, the average luminance of LED luminaires was higher than one of fluorescent luminaires. Considering these results, it`s thought that LED luminaires can give a person in the room a more comfortable working environment than fluorescent luminaires.
