Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are prone to be affected by faults which may be caused due to a variety of reasons, namely hardware malfunction, software problems, inadequate energy resources, and range or environmental hazards. A WSN is required to be equipped to handle such situations else would suffer an overall curtailment of the lifetime and ultimately not meet the required goal. Tolerance to faults thus forms one of the guiding parameters in WSN design. In this paper, we have proposed a method to find a reliable routing protocol using fuzzy logic based on Link Quality Indicator (LQI), Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), and number of hops to the base station. Additional to the primary reliable path, each node has a secondary path which will be alternate path for each sensor in case of failure of the primary path. Implementation of this approach has been done as TinyOS module and evaluated through TOSSIM simulations. The experimental results show promising results in terms of packet delivery and reliability of the network.

Fault Tolerance in Wireless Sensor Networks: Finding Primary Path

Internet of Things (IoT) devices are lightweight such that they generally possess low battery power. Hence, the chances of battery exhaustion and flooding attacks are more. In order to perform attack response actions against various attacks, this paper proposes Hierarchical and On-Demand Attack Defence Framework (HOAD) for IoT security. In this framework, primary (PC) and secondary controller (SC) nodes are deployed in the network along with the IoT devices. The SC scan be moved on-demand by the PC. The response agent at PC will first establish a new route via the SCs by excluding the intruders and the suspected nodes. Then, it will resend the stored packets to their destination via the newly established route. The proposed HOAD framework is implemented in NS2 and compared with the MECshield framework. Simulation results show that the HOAD has reduced end-to-end delay, increased packet delivery ratio, and increased residual energy.

A Reliable Primary-Backup Routing Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Netwrok

With multiprocessor systems, redundant scheduling is a technique that trades processing power for increased reliability through redundancy. One novel approach, called primary-backup task scheduling, is a large number of used in hard real-time multiprocessor systems to guarantee the deadlines of tasks faults. In this paper, we analysis and compare the scheduling algorithm based on primary-backup replication in current distributed system. Finally, the important features that fault-tolerant Task Scheduling in Multiprocessor Systems based on primary-backup are summarized, and the future research strategies and tends are given.

Fault-tolerant task scheduling in multiprocessor systems based on primary-backup scheme

In this paper we present a new measure method for real-time monitor of thermal conductivity of the hot-pressing process applied to particleboard. In the particleboard hot-pressing process, the monitoring data of thermal conductivity was modeled and forecasted based on BP neural network and ELM algorithm. The trained network can both accurately harmonize different sets of experimental data and precisely predict the dynamic indexes of thermal conductivity. Simulation results show that ELM prediction method not only overcome the shortcoming of the traditional real-time monitoring mechanism in precision but also avoid the problems of depending on a large number of data with high quality in existing BP network learning.
