TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper studied meteorological data from 743 surface weather stations in Chinese mainland for the period between 1951 and 2005 and found that haze is an important indicator of air quality and, on the other hand, fog has definite meaning indicative of weather.

Spatial sampling design optimization of monitoring network for terrestrial ecosystem in China.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors proposed the design of a monitoring network for the terrestrial ecosystem consisting of core stations and localized points, with focus on ecosystem services of NPP, water conservation, soil retention and sandstorm prevention, core stations of the monitoring network were first selected by assessing and improving spatial representativeness in ecoregions of forest, grassland and desert ecosystems.
