Journal ArticleDOI
Stimulated Brillouin threshold dependence on fiber type and uniformity
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of fiber uniformity on stimulated Brillouin scattering thresholds have been measured and extended to the case of non-uniform fibers, which enables the design of long fiber spans with ten times higher stimulated-branching thresholds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brillouin scattering in externally modulated lightwave AM-VSB CATV transmission systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold for a CW (continuous wave) laser externally modulated with an AM-VSB (amplitude modulation vestigial sideband) CATV (cable television) signal was measured.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Stimulated Brillouin threshold dependence on fiber type and uniformity
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the Brillouin gain spectra of fibers are affected by fiber uniformity and type, and that the threshold for stimulated Brillhouin scattering should also depend on these parameters.
